Laubbe Furniture Maintenance – How to preserve the lounger beauty!
Essential Care Tips for Teak Outdoor Furniture
Teak can be left outdoors in any weather. As teak’s surface layer oxidises on exposure to the elements it can take a grey tone. With the below maintenance, we will maintain the natural shine of teak wood.
We recommend that you clean your furniture twice yearly, in the spring and autumn. The rest of the year, simply dust off with a soft cloth.
For teak wood cleaning, use a scrubbing brush and soap (not detergent), scrub lightly in the direction of the grain to remove residues and the grey patina. Pressure at scrubbing bring the teak back to the natural shine. Once it is clean, hose down with clean water and allow to dry naturally.
Although not obligatory, we recommend the use of oil for teak or exotic woods that protects against external elements, mould and mildew.
Fixing glue impedes unscrewing, nonetheless we recommend to check the screws twice a year and if necessary tightened them, as loose screws would wear and may break.
We don’t recommend pressure-washing teak garden furniture either: doing so can cause the surface of the wood to become bumpy and pitted !
